Scholé Academy offers live, online courses that pair a classical curriculum with the pedagogy of restful learning embodied by the concept of scholé. Our instructors foster deep engagement to cultivate learning that lasts.
Scholé (pronounced skoh-LAY) is the Greek word at the root of our English school. To the ancients, it meant the unhurried time set aside for the most worthwhile things, for conversation, contemplation, friendship, and delight. It is the opposite of the frenzied schooling that wears children down and drains the joy out of learning.
We named the academy after this old word on purpose.
We believe a Christian education ought to feel like what it is: a gift. Rigorous, yes. Demanding, yes. But also peaceful, beautiful, and full of wonder. Our classrooms are designed so that your student can lean in, take a breath, and actually love the work.

We teach the great books, the liberal arts, and the long tradition of seeking after the true, the good, and the beautiful. Our pedagogy forms students in virtue and trains them how to think and how to learn.
Excellence does not have to be frenetic. Our teachers model peace, deep attention, and love for the subject, so that learning becomes memorable, enjoyable, and lasting, all within the cloister of the Christian faith.
Classes meet live, two or three times a week, with cameras on. Students see and hear each other and their instructor. Real discussion. Real questions. Real teachers responding in real time.
We cap our class sizes at fifteen students. Your student is known. Their writing gets read. Their voice gets heard. Our instructors offer thoughtful instruction in class and personal feedback on every assignment.

A homeschool mom of more than twenty years, Nancy has tutored privately, led a co-op, and classically homeschooled her own children. She is the friendly voice walking each Scholé Academy family through enrollment and registration.
Your student will encounter hard questions. We do not flinch from them, and we do not let them be answered by the loudest voice in the culture. Believing that Christ is the Truth and that all truth has its source in him, our teachers walk students through honest, charitable engagement with ideas both ancient and modern.
Our upper-school classrooms are places of real conversation. Students read carefully, ask good questions, and learn to weigh what is true against the witness of Scripture, the wisdom of the church, and the great teachers who have gone before. They leave our courses better thinkers, not because they avoided the hard places, but because they were shepherded through them.
We have been with Scholé Academy for 6 or 7 years. I love the quality of teachers and teaching, the lack of chatboxes, the small class sizes.
Another WONDERFUL year of French instruction. I’m blown away by what my daughter has learned again this year. Her pronunciations are beautiful and I think the regular quizzes really have made her retention of French amazing. Perfect balance of projects, homework, quizzes. Just a delightful class! Thank you!
My daughter was not looking forward to taking a logic class, but she really enjoyed the class and her instructor. It turned out to be her favorite of her outsourced courses this year.
My son really enjoyed Biology with Dr. Batty! He said he really wished he could take another science class with him this fall. He was given all the instruction he needed to be independent with this course. I am so grateful for this positive experience because it truly helped my son learn the ropes of succeeding at a difficult course.
My husband and I are thankful for a team of godly people committed to serving parents with good resources and educating our daughter with wisdom and grace.

Scholé Academy stands in a tradition older than the modern school. From St. Augustine and St. Basil the Great to St. Thomas Aquinas, from Comenius and Alcuin of York to C. S. Lewis and Dorothy Sayers, the saints and teachers of the Christian classical tradition shape what we teach and how we teach it. Their work is the soil our courses grow in.
Modern schooling has wandered far from what education once was. Your student does not have to. Our courses carry forward what is true, good, and beautiful in the tradition, taught with the realities of the twenty-first century in clear view.
The result is a formation your child will take with them for life.
