Read through the life, death, resurrection, and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ and through the letters to His followers in the first century! This course is designed for students who want to dive into the literary, historical, and theological riches of the New Testament while at the same time enriching their own devotional lives. We will study the historical setting and main themes of each book of the New Testament, learning how to engage the text in its own context. Students will gain the tools necessary to confidently read the Bible on their own and to ascertain contemporary applications.
Intended as enrichment, this course will require reading outside of class, but the overall workload will be light, with the majority of assignments reserved for responding to in-class discussion.
This course is a great companion to Bible Survey 1: Old Testament. Or it can be taken as a stand-alone.
Required Materials: Books and supplies are not included in the purchase of the course. These resources are listed to help inform your decision-making as you make course selections and build your course schedule. Please reach out to the instructor if you have any questions about materials.
