Placement Process One critical factor for restful learning is the proper placement of students. If you are unsure which level is the best fit for your student, reach out to the instructor you are considering. Once registered, anticipate contact regarding placement evaluations from instructors by May 15th and throughout the summer. Students must be enrolled to enter the placement process. Early placement exams may allow time for tutoring or additional review based on the outcomes. See more about placement evaluations in our Student-Parent Handbook.
Novare Science Placement If placement evaluation is needed, please anticipate contact from instructors by May 15th and throughout the summer. Students must be enrolled in a course to receive a placement assessment. Learn more about the Novare Science placement.
In this course, we will look at the human body and learn about the 11 organ systems that work together to maintain life. Students will use multiple online resources provided by the instructor. In class, we will discuss how the body functions typically and explore diseases and conditions through case studies. The class will meet live twice weekly, with additional asynchronous labs. The labs will have students using microscopes, dissecting specimens, and testing their physiology. All instructions for the labs will be provided to the students in Canvas in the form of PowerPoint presentations and videos.
Preparedness: Anatomy and Physiology is designed for grades 10-12 and is ideal for students who have taken Life Science or General Biology. Students in this course will be expected to have a basic understanding of the cell and the chemistry of living organisms (i.e., osmosis, atomic structure, acidity).
Grading: Students will take quizzes, a midterm, and a final exam. There will also be lab journal entries and a lab report.
Required Materials: Books and supplies are not included in the purchase of the course. These resources are listed to help inform your decision-making as you make course selections and build your course schedule. Please reach out to the instructor if you have any questions about materials.
