Grades K-12 · Live online
Scholé Academy offers online homeschool classes for grades K through 12, taught live by real teachers in small groups of fifteen or fewer. Your student joins a class that meets on a set schedule, reads good books, and talks them over with classmates and a teacher who knows them by name. You choose the courses. We teach them. You remain the heart of your homeschool.
Homeschool online classes are courses a homeschooled student takes over the internet, alongside the work done at home. Some are recorded videos a child watches alone. Others meet live: a teacher and a small group gather each week, cameras on, to read, discuss, practice and write together. Parents may choose one class or a full schedule.
Families come to online classes for many reasons. A parent may be glad to teach history at the kitchen table but hesitant about Latin or chemistry. A high school student may need a teacher who reads every essay closely. A younger child may simply be ready for classmates. A live class meets each of those needs and keeps the rhythm that drew the family to homeschooling in the first place.
Every Scholé Academy class meets live, on a weekly rhythm, in our online classroom. Students see their teacher and their classmates. They raise a hand, read a passage aloud, and wrestle with questions that have no answer key. Between meetings, assignments, feedback and grades live in Canvas, so parents always know what is due and how their student is doing.
Classical education follows the way a child grows: first gathering words and facts with delight, then asking why, then learning to speak and write with wisdom. Our online homeschool classes are arranged the same way.
Latin for Children, Song School, classical composition, nature study, and arithmetic through pre-algebra, taught in short, joyful lessons that respect a young child’s attention.
Formal and informal logic, intermediate Latin and Greek, great books and close reading, and the first real essays and arguments.
Classical rhetoric, theology, Algebra II through calculus, biology, chemistry and physics, and seminars on primary sources.
Scholé (skoh-LAY) is the Greek word for the leisure set apart for learning, and the root of our word school. It names an unhurried kind of study, pursued in friendship and conversation, without the anxiety that so often rushes children through their lessons. The philosopher Josef Pieper called leisure the basis of culture.
That is the spirit of every class. Teachers slow down for a good question. Students read whole books, not excerpts. The aim is not simply finished coursework but young people who love learning, grow in virtue, and can read, think and converse well. It is the same vision behind the curriculum of Classical Academic Press, our parent company.
Every grade is offered in the ecumenical Great Hall and in three Houses of Studies, so your child can learn within your family’s faith.
Our ecumenical option welcomes students from every Christian tradition, united by the Nicene Creed.
Orthodox instructors, with courses rich in the theology, liturgy and Fathers of the Orthodox Church.
Instructors who are members in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church.
Instructors within the Protestant tradition, with Anglican instructors for catechism.

Parents tell us the same thing in different words: their children look forward to class.
We have been with Scholé Academy for 6 or 7 years. I love the quality of teachers and teaching, the lack of chatboxes, the small class sizes.
Another WONDERFUL year of French instruction. I’m blown away by what my daughter has learned again this year. Her pronunciations are beautiful and I think the regular quizzes really have made her retention of French amazing. Perfect balance of projects, homework, quizzes. Just a delightful class! Thank you!
My daughter was not looking forward to taking a logic class, but she really enjoyed the class and her instructor. It turned out to be her favorite of her outsourced courses this year.
My son really enjoyed Biology with Dr. Batty! He said he really wished he could take another science class with him this fall. He was given all the instruction he needed to be independent with this course. I am so grateful for this positive experience because it truly helped my son learn the ropes of succeeding at a difficult course.
My husband and I are thankful for a team of godly people committed to serving parents with good resources and educating our daughter with wisdom and grace.
Your student logs in at the scheduled time and joins a live video class with a teacher and a small group of classmates. Reading, assignments and grades are posted in Canvas between meetings, where parents can see them too.
They ask more of a student, and that is the point. A live class gives a child someone to answer to, classmates to learn with, and a teacher who can hear when they are confused and help right away.
Yes. Class meetings are recorded, so a student who is sick or traveling can watch what they missed and keep up with the class.
Yes. Every course is offered à la carte, with no minimum or maximum. Many families begin with one course in a subject they would rather not teach at home.
Yes. You remain your child’s primary teacher and decide what your student studies. Unlike a full-time online homeschool program, our classes partner with your homeschool rather than replace it.
Tuition is set per course and listed on each course page, with an optional payment plan. Many states help homeschool families with course costs; see our state funding page.
Our Tutoring Center offers supplemental tutoring, private and semi-private instruction, and a Center for Learning Differences.
