Introductory Korean B will be for students who have completed Introductory Korean A and are ready to deepen their understanding of the Korean language. This course builds on foundational vocabulary and basic alphabetical patterns while introducing more complex sentences, grammar structures, conversational skills, and cultural elements. Students will move toward greater independence in speaking, writing, and understanding Korean in everyday settings.

Youngju Smoot is a certified educator with more than 40 years of teaching experience in public schools, IB international schools, and universities across Korea, China, and India. She currently teaches Korean online to students of all ages in the United States.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Jeonju National University of Education, a Master’s degree in Art Education from Seoul National University, and completed doctoral coursework in Education at Jeonbuk National University.
Youngju is passionate about helping students grow academically, personally, and spiritually. She strives to create a supportive learning environment where students build confidence, discover their God-given gifts, and develop a lifelong love of learning while partnering closely with families.
In addition to teaching, Youngju is a professional artist whose work has been exhibited widely, including a permanent sculpture honoring a Christian Korean martyr. She enjoys integrating art, culture, and language to make learning engaging and meaningful.
First, read the available course descriptions, noting prerequisites, target grades, and course objectives. If you think your student is prepared for the course, go ahead and register. After registration, a placement assessment may be provided to students, depending on the course and the student’s previous enrollment with Scholé Academy. Registration is finalized when the student’s placement assessment has been returned by the course instructor with placement confirmation.
Make sure they don’t conflict with other activities in your schedule or other courses you are purchasing. Our system will not catch double-bookings!
