Get to know Girl Genius with Mrs. Monika Minehart
Girl Genius is a once a week, year-long course designed for girls entering grades 4-7. Through scripture study, purposeful journaling, meaningful discussion and study of the virtues, we will explore the deeper meaning in our vocations as daughters, sisters, and friends. In class, students will learn from a middle school program by ENDOW (Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women). Homework will consist of reading short, but introspective chapters from The Costly Cookie Chronicles by Julie Kelly and journaling about the topics discussed therein. In the fourth quarter, we will restfully conclude our class with reading Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery - a novel that is inexhaustibly rich with meaning for young girls who are on the path to becoming young ladies. Quarterly projects will seek to nurture each girl's natural gifts and talents while encouraging them to dive deeper into hobbies such as sewing, baking, and other assorted handicrafts.
"Women acknowledge the person, because they see persons with their hearts. They see them in such a way that their insight is an important complement to the knowledge proper to reason." (from Mulieris Dignitatem, Saint John Paul II)
