World Geography is a once a week, year-long, supplemental course with an emphasis on map and memory work. The course will walk students around the entire globe for a greater understanding, appreciation, and knowledge of the places they study in history and hear about in current events. We will highlight physical and political geography and briefly overview each region's culture and history. Students will become familiar with the major countries, cities, and physical features of each region.

Live class time will include trivia games, memory work and review, discussion on the region of the week, student presentations, and guided map work. Students will present once during each semester. They will be encouraged to find a personal connection to the area we studied whether that be through personal travel, ancestry, family, friends, or interest. Outside of class time, there will be 2-3 assignments each week: upload a map, read and take notes, and take a weekly quiz.

Fall semester will cover the Americas, Europe, and Africa. Spring Semester will cover the Middle East, Asia, Oceania, and Antarctica.

How to Enroll

  1. Explore our courses!

First, read the available course descriptions, noting prerequisites, target grades, and course objectives. If you think your student is prepared for the course, go ahead and register. After registration, a placement assessment may be provided to students, depending on the course and the student’s previous enrollment with Scholé Academy. Registration is finalized when the student’s placement assessment has been returned by the course instructor with placement confirmation.

  2. Double-check the course section dates and times.

Make sure they don’t conflict with other activities in your schedule or other courses you are purchasing. Our system will not catch double-bookings!

  3. You’re ready to add course selections to your cart!

Our Assistant to the Principal will be in touch with you after your enrollment to help you with next steps, including any placement evaluations that may be required for your course selections.

This registration will be finalized when the student’s placement assessment has been returned by the course instructor with placement confirmation.
