A Child’s History of the World is a year-long survey course that offers a journey through the entire history of the world in chronological order. Hillyer’s book, A Child's History of the World, was written specifically for children and is a wonderful introduction to the varied and fascinating characters and stories of history.

Each quarter the class will read through a different period of world history: first quarter will cover Ancient history, second quarter will cover Greek and Roman history, third quarter will cover Medieval history, and fourth quarter will cover Modern history. The last week of each quarter will be spent time reviewing topics and recommending additional books student may enjoy that cover that time period.

A typical class will begin with prayer and a history or geography game. A couple chapters from A Child’s History of the World will be read aloud by the teacher as students follow along in their book at home. Students will then narrate the chapters and share their narrations with the class. The teacher will model various verbal and written forms of narration throughout the year. Class time will end with viewing an artifact or art piece and closing prayer. Homework will consist of students uploading their narrations to Canvas.
