This introductory Neurobiology course is an elective that pairs well with a study of General Biology. The course explores how the nervous system gives rise to thought, behavior, emotion, and consciousness. Students will investigate the structure and function of the brain and nervous system from neurons and neural signaling to perception, movement, learning, memory, and mental health. Through a combination of conceptual learning, case studies, and discussions, students will examine how biological processes underlie everyday experiences such as decision-making, stress, sleep, emotion, and social behavior. This course emphasizes scientific thinking and helps students connect neuroscience to health, medicine, psychology, and emerging technologies. The course cultivates an understanding of the human brain as an intricate, fascinating creation and the human person as deeply known and loved by God. Designed for grades 10–12, this course is ideal for students interested in biology, psychology, medicine, and health sciences.
Required Materials: Books and supplies are not included in the purchase of the course. These resources are listed to help inform your decision-making as you make course selections and build your course schedule. Please reach out to the instructor if you have any questions about materials.

Beyond the lab, Susie finds immense joy in sharing her fascination for science and helping students discover that science can be both exciting and accessible. During her undergraduate studies, she has been recognized for her excellence as a Organic Chemistry Teaching Assistant and a tutor. Additionally, she is passionate about bridging educational opportunities in underserved communities which led her to serve as a English and Math tutor in both rural South Korea and Malawi, Africa during college.
