Ava Nelson

Ava Nelson earned a BA in Linguistics from Washington State University as well as a Masters in Teaching. She found the classroom to be the true vocational home for her soul teaching in a first grade classroom, as a reading and math interventionist, and later in homeschooling her two younger siblings. In 2021, her family’s renewed commitment to the Orthodox Faith of her youth renewed her interest in a more restful and liturgical way to live, and to teach. Her goal as a teacher has always been to find the ways that education can bless students and lean into their keen desire to discover the truth, beauty, and goodness of the world and how they fit into it. She is eager to put these truths into practice while teaching Writing and Rhetoric 1, as well as Star Stories: Myths, Legends, and Astronomy.

When she is not teaching, you might find Ava making lists, reading to herself or to her daughter, playing board games with her dear husband, trying her hand at baking, or spending time at the window bird or star watching- depending on the time of day.
